Vauxhall Vivaro Key Prices Problems 2002-14

These vans are awesome. We’ve had two and have kept the second one, because it’s never missed a beat. The older ones have trouble with injectors and gearboxes, but we really like them as a van. Likewise, the keys are good quality, long lasting and cheap. Here’s our take on Vauxhall Vivaro key prices and the problems they have.

The key comes in two parts. The remote has two buttons, open and close, or three on some models. The extra button allows the load area to be unlocked independently. The switches on the key are big and long lasting and the batteries are easy to change. The blades are generally long lasting.

Spare Keys

There is a big difference between the price of a key from the dealer and if you buy one from and independent. The dealers charge over £200, however, this is excessive. Expect to pay £130 for a new, two button remote key from an independent Auto Locksmith or key cutting shop. This gains five stars.

They’re really good quality, and the ones we see that are looking tired have lasted at least five years before needing replacing or repairing. The cases are good quality, the switches and large and robust and the batteries last a long time. Again, five stars.

This type of wear and tear can easily be repaired, to save you needing a new key.

For spare keys, these are straight forward. There is plenty of good equipment that will programme them without the need for codes. This makes life very easy and all good Auto-Locksmiths will not need any codes.

These keys are usually easy to get hold of and any good Auto Locksmith should will have them in stock. If you’re waiting more than a day, then that’s too long, in our opinion. The dealers do not work in the same way.

They will have to order in a key from a main supplier that will cut it first. To cut it they’ll need a key number. So, if you decide to use the main dealer you’ll need to have the security car pass.

Lost Keys

There’s two lots of good news here. Firstly, if you ask an Auto-Locksmith to replace your lost Vauxhall Vivaro key, you’ll have no need for codes. The equipment to make keys for these vans, without the need for codes is common place and reasonable to use.

As we’ve already discussed, the programming equipment does not need the dealer code to programme a key. Therefore, any good Auto-Locksmith will not need codes.

However, if for some reason you do need a dealer code, the good news is that unlike Ford, the records kept by Vauxhall are very good. They key the key number and immobiliser code for every Vauxhall vehicle in a central database and is issued as a ‘Car Pass’.

To obtain the car pass there is a bit of pain to go through. You’ll need to submit the logbook, a utility bill, and some photo identification. It will all need to be in the same name and address and then once this is done, you may have to wait three days.

The car pass will cost around £30 depending on what the dealer charges in your area. Although this seems to be a pain, at least they are available, with a Ford van, then it it’s a different story.

Wherever you are in the UK, losing your Vauxhall Vivaro key should not be stressful. This is simply because, unlike the dealer, a good Auto-Locksmith should be able to get you up and running the same day. The keys are reasonably prices and will be kept in stock. The locks are reasonable to make keys for and the programme is possible without Vauxhall key codes.

As a guide price, you should expect to pay £180-£240 for someone to replace a lost Vauxhall Vivaro key. The price range is this large depending on location and competition.

If you’re waiting for more than a day, your waiting too long and you need to find an Auto-Locksmith instead of the dealer.
