Problems with your Fiat 500x key not detected? We can help.

Today we’re looking at the new style of Fiat key. Its’s a smart proximity key which means it doesn’t have a key blade or an ignition lock. Instead, to start the car you simply need to press a button.

The button has been placed where the lock used to be so it’s easy to find and use. However, this week we saw our first problem car, a 2016 Fiat 500x.

Hi, 2016 Fiat 500X. Remote keyless key fob will not open the doors and is not recognised by the ignition system. I have fitted new Duracell batteries to both remotes but neither remote will work. I now have to open the door with the manual key and press the “Start Button” using the body of the remote key fob. This is the only way I Am able to start the car. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thankyou

Hi Ken, that’s very odd. Do the lights flash when you press the buttons. Silly question, but have you removed the safety sticker on the battery?

I have the same issues as mention above. Replaced batteries in both fobs, can only unlock car manually (no flashing light) and start the car by using the fob instead of finger! Any ideas before I spend a fortune no doubt with fiat ?
